Unit 1:My weekends
My weekends are usually busy. There are a lot of things that I need to do. I often have a part time job on the weekends. I work in the AEON shopping mall. I often go there by train and bus, so I have to wake up early. If I miss the train I’ll be late for my job. last weekend was very tiring. I warked all day, from 9:30 to 7:00pm. It was very busy. Many people came to AEON for shopping. The mall was very crowded. After work, I had some ice cream at the 31 Ice cream shop at AEON. It was very delicious. It maked me happy. At 7:30, My friend and I ate dinner at our favorite restaurant. We talked about manythings.Next weekends is going to be very busy as well. I will have to work a lot and will have only one day off. If I could, I woud like go to trip. I would like to go om a trip to Tokyo and Kyoto.
Unit 2:My Friend Yuko
Yuko is a friend from school, and she is also my best friend. Yuko is very cute. Her eyes are black, and her face is round. Her hair is black and short. It really suits her. She has a good smile. Yuko has a wonderful personality. She is very kind and fun. She often tells jokes. She is very popular and has a many friends. Yuko has a many hobbies, such cycling going to sea, and relaxing on the beach. Her favorite activity is skatebording. She has done it since Junior high school. She and her friends skatebord every day after school. All of these things make Yuko a very interesting parson.
Yuko talks a lot of about her future. She wants to be a shopkeeper. She likes clothes and shoes. She wants to study English to open her own shop, so she will go abroad someday. I know that she will be successful because she never gives up. She will have a lot of fun in the future, too.

Unit 3: Friendly Message
Hi Sally,
How are you? I’m sleepy. It is Monday morning ,and I’m sitting in a Starbucks. It is a warm Autumn day in Canada. I am sitting at a small round table near the window of the cafe. I am drinking coffee and thinking of you.
I had very interesting afternoon. I went to the park. It was very cold day. There were many dogs at the park. A few dog were running around. Some dogs were sitting on the slide. There was big pool in the middle of the park. It was brank and mostly dry. The remaining water looked hot. I sat down in the middle of it. I wanted to sleep. Suddenly, the pool terned on. Water was everywhere! I was surprised and sad. I was wet and cold. My mother came over to the pool,too. She was helping me out , but she was not wet,either. It was a very strange things. Finally we were crying in the car. It was too bad.
I have good host mother here, but I miss you and my family in Toyama. I hope you are well and happy. When will you come to Canada? I want you to meet my friend and host family. Please write soon. Write to me in English.

Unit 5: Haruka’s First Day of Teaching
Today was Haruka’s first day of teaching. She woke up early in the morning. She stayed in bed for a few minutes and thought about her class. She wonderd about her students. Because She was excited and nervous, She was tense before the class. At 7:30, Haruka got out of bed. She showered and got dress in her new suit. She felt important in the special shirt and pants. When her grand mother saw her, She said ”Good morning , teacher !” Her mother told her to hurry up and eat breakfast. She ate some bread and fruit. She took longer to eat breakfast,but she had no time. She hurried to arrive in time for her class.
At 8:30, Haruka left her house. She went to a station to catch the train, but she couldn’t make it. She missed the train. She was very confused. She hurried back to her house. When she arrived, her father said ,”What’s happen ?” He was very angry. she apologized him and asked her father to take her to her school. At 9:15, Haruka arrived at her classroom. She rested only a moment before she had to prepare for the lesson. She was very busy. When she had finish preparations, her boss told her that 4 students were absent that day, so should could relax until the afternoon. She was very sad.
In the afternoon, Haruka’s first class went very well. New students were satisfied with her lesson. She had very good time! When she came home, her family was very kind. In the end, she hoped there would be more students in next her class.
Unit7: Entering Junior High Basketball Club
The event that has changed my life the most was entering junior high basketball club. I entered When I was 13 years old. I had a good experience , and it has really changed my life.
Before entering basketball club, I liked sports very much, but I was not good at PE. I couldn’t run fast. I was slow runner, so I lacked confidence in myself. In those days, I didn’t take any kind of after school lessons, such as piano or some craft. I played with friends on weekends just for fun. I was lacking in tenacity.
I developed as a person after I entered basketball club. I practiced hard every day after school. I also did morning practice. I had to get up at 6:00 every morning. It was too hard to continue, but I still liked playing basketball. Our coach was a very strict person.I couldn’t slack off. I developed good patience,and I noticed that friend were very important. I often practiced hard basketball with team mates for competitions. We encouraged each other. I had very good experience. I got stamina, good basketball skills and knowledge . I am confident in myself.
Unit 9: John Lenon
The person I admire most is John Lenon. I listened to his songs when I was child. He made many very beautiful songs. I have learned a lot from him. He is my inspiration for being honest and living life fully. I have sympathy with his opinions.
John Lenon was born in Liverpool in 1946 to Julia and Alfred Lenon. There survived the German air raids during World war Ⅱ. His family was not very close. He felt sad when he was child, so he made a lot of sad and powerful songs .His father Alf was a merchant seaman during World War Ⅱ, and was often away from home, but sent regular pay cheques to Lenon and his family. However, the cheques stopped in 1943. When his father eventually came home in 1944, he offered to look after his wife and son, but his mother rejected the idea. After that Lenon was taken in by Mimi, his mother’s sister. In July 1946, his father visited Mimi and took Lennon to Blackpool, secretly intending to emigrate to New Zealand with him, but his mother followed them, and after a very heated argument, Alf made the five-year-old Lennon choose between Julia or him, and Lennon chose him twice. As Julia walked away, however, Lennon began to cry and followed her. From September 1952 to 1957, he attended the Quarry Bank High School in Liverpool. He became very famous as a bad student. In 1956,when he listened to songs sung by Elvis Presley, he realized his love for music. In 1962, The Beatles released their first double-sided original single, “Love Me Do” . It reached the top of British Charts. He and the other members became famous all over the world.His happy life did not continue. On the night of 8 December 1980, at around 10:49 p.m., Mark David Chapman shot Lennon in the back four times in the entrance of his NYC apartment. Mark David Chapman was a frenzied fan. Lennon was taken to the Emergency Room of nearby Roosevelt Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival at 11:07 p.m. Lennon’s body was cremated at Ferndale, New York.
John Lenon’s life was very difficult and hard. He had a lot of experience. I think he made a lot of beautiful and powerful music. His music has made me happy and feel good. He wanted peace. I think he is not here, but his mind is still alive in his songs, which are very good for our lives.
